Ear Mould

Custom ear moulds are used to create a perfect fit for your hearing aids or other in-ear devices. They are made by taking an impression of your ear canal, which is then used to create a mould that is exactly the right shape and size for your ear.

Ear moulds offer a number of benefits over other types of hearing aid fittings, including:

  • Improved comfort and security: Custom ear moulds fit snugly in your ear canal, so you don’t have to worry about them falling out or slipping. They are also more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.
  • Better sound quality: Custom ear moulds create a seal between your ear canal and the hearing aid, which helps to improve sound quality and reduce feedback.
  • Greater protection from moisture and debris: Custom ear moulds can help to protect your ear canal from moisture and debris, which can prolong the lifespan of your hearing aids and reduce the risk of ear infections.

If you are considering getting hearing aids, or if you are unhappy with the fit of your current hearing aids, custom ear moulds may be the solution for you.

Here is a more detailed description of the ear mould making process:

  1. Your audiologist will start by cleaning and examining your ears.
  2. They will then insert a soft cotton or foam plug into your ear canal to protect your eardrum.
  3. Next, they will inject a soft silicone material into your ear canal. The material will harden in a few minutes, creating a mold of your ear canal.
  4. Once the mold is hardened, your audiologist will remove it from your ear canal.
  5. The mold will then be sent to a lab, where it will be used to create your custom ear moulds.

The ear mould making process is quick and painless. It usually takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.

If you have any questions about ear mould making, please don’t hesitate to contact your audiologist.
